What happens when SBA "returns" an application?

You will receive an email from SBA notifying you of a recent action taken on your case and instructing you to log in to your application. But what you will actually find there is a letter informing you that they have screened your application and have "returned" it as deficient and inadequate for processing. No further action will be taken on the application. Without doubt, that will not be what you were hoping for.

If you want to try again, you must update all of the application information and all of the backup documentation. And you must correctly address each of the deficiencies and issues that got it returned in the first place - assuming you can clearly decipher what they were. Then you must re-submit the application to SBA.

Now you get to keep your fingers crossed and hope that this attempt works better than the last one. Maybe it will - or maybe your application will be returned again.

==> SBA treats re-submissions as new applications.
